Data Restore Point Procedure #1: Your database is backed up nightly
and contained within a private, inaccessible directory on the Web server. Unless
the entire Web server crashes, your database back-up will be available from this
folder for re-installment in the event your database crashes for some reason. The
back-up will be from the previous 24 hours.
Data Restore Point Procedure #2: Every night the entire Web server including
your Websites files and database are backed up to an external device
at the hosting facility and kept on a 14 day retention. This means that you will
always have 14 recovery
points at any given time permitting you have been on our server for at least 14
days.
Data Restore Point Procedure #3: Effective December 09, 2011 we will also
be backing up your database and Website files ONCE PER WEEK to our
own external hard drive. This will be a manual process that we will perform from
our offices as a 3rd way of creating a restore point and also offering you what
is known as an offsite back-up. If for some reason options #1 and #2 fail then you
will have this 3rd option as a restore point. Obviously, this would only be necessary
in the event of some sort of natural or man-made catastrophe that leaves the hosting
facility inaccessible.
Your offsite back-up with be held on a 30 day retention meaning there should always
be 4 back-ups available in the archive once we surpass January 10, 2012 (tentatively).
*** The cost of the offsite back-up will be included in your hosting account with
us.
Your Website Files
Just to be clear - your Website files, in addition to your database back-up
file are backed up in Data Restore Point Procedures #2 and #3 above. That means
they are backed up nightly and held on a 14 day retention at the hosting facility
and also in our offsite back-up once per week and held on a 30 day retention at
our off-site facility.
